I’ve Only Gone and Done It!

So I’ve only gone and done it. I’m FINALLY writing a blog post. I say finally, firstly because it feels like I’ve been saying that I’m going to start blogging for approximately 73 years, and secondly because I have a new baby. Those of you who also have/have had a new baby should know what I mean here, and those of you who haven’t – well I’m sure you can imagine.

When I’m not propped up somewhere with a boob hanging out and my little one firmly clamped to it like one of those sucker cups that everyone was using to get Kylie Jenner lips a few weeks back, then I’ve got my arms tightly wrapped around his squidgy self whilst rhythmically squatting and ‘sshhh’ing simultaneously in the hope it calms his crying (still no closer to a Kim K derrière though it seems). On the very rare occasion, I may just be lucky enough to be sleeping, and if it’s none of the above then frankly I probably just can’t be arsed. Looking after a newborn 24/7 kinda does that to you. Sorry not sorry.

In my opinion blogging is a little self indulgent (well a lifestyle one like this at least); who wants to read about my life anyway? What makes me so interesting? The truth is probably no one and not a lot, but hey, I’m going to do it anyway. I view fashion/beauty/lifestyle blogs as aspirational; a place people can go to appreciate and envy, and I didn’t think I particularly fit in to said box. However I love my life and my little family and sometimes it’s the simple things that people crave the most (here’s hoping anyway).

Having previously done fashion writing both at uni and in the industry, I went from writing most days to not writing ‘properly’ for about 4 years, so it’s safe to say I’m more than a little rusty. I miss getting my creative juices flowing on a regular basis, so this blog is the perfect place to claw my way back to being a semi-competent writer – fingers crossed! Of course I intend to have some fun along the way, and I’m sure my brand spanking new baby boy will provide plenty of entertainment for me to share with you.

Doing this whole mother thing for the first time means I’m pretty much learning as I go which I think is probably the case for most other first-time Mummas too. If I pick up any tips that I think are worth their weight in gold as I bumble along on this weird and wonderful journey, then I will be sure to share- and hopefully they will be helpful to someone…somewhere.

Here goes…
